About The Author

Hello, I am Rick Spencer, the creator of these puzzles and author of this book.

If you like puzzles, especially those that can be solved with only logical deduction, you will enjoy Pica Centro Solitaire.

When I was a freshman at Red Bluff High School, my friends and I would play this game during class.   It was always a two-player game where each person tried to guess the other’s 4-digit code.   It was mostly guesswork with little strategy or logic.  However, it did require discretion since the teachers frowned upon this activity!  Plus, my father was a math teacher at the school and he always seemed to know what happened in my classes.

My father, though, was the one who instilled a love for puzzles in me.  He often had them mimeographed (look that up, millennials!) so I could have a copy. He also built mechanical puzzles, 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe games, and the like.

After retiring, I recalled playing Pica Centro in high school and began creating puzzles.  It has always been a two-player game but once I found that logic and strategy could solve the puzzles, it made for a great solitaire puzzle.

As I evolved in my puzzle making skill, I began incorporating different strategies into the puzzles.   As I developed more puzzles, I found them interesting, and fun, and thought others would too.  I hope you enjoy them as well!

Rick.
